TIRANA, April 21 (Xinhua) -- Albanian Government and the Western Balkans Fund (WBF) signed the Host Country Agreement, the Albanian Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs (MEFA) declared.

MEFA Minister Ditmir Bushati underlined that the signing of this agreement was another key moment of the positive contribution of Albania to the region, as well as part of Albania's commitment and determination for the Europeanization of the region within the framework of the Berlin Process.

Bushati praised the support of Visegrad Group countries in establishing this Fund and for the cooperation of all the Western Balkan countries, which contributed to transforming it into a model of regional cooperation and transformation of our societies.

"As the host country of the Western Balkans Fund but also the Regional Cooperation Office, Albania is determined that these two important regional bodies remain as influential mechanisms in building good neighborly relations and mutual trust in the Western Balkans, as the best way to strengthen the security and stability of the whole region," emphasized Bushati.

Meanwhile, on behalf of the Fund, the Executive Director, Dr. Gjergj Murra, highlighted the successful cooperation with the Albanian Government in creating a favorable environment for the success of this regional body.

"Today, WBF represents a shared success of all parties involved in its creation. We appreciate that Albania, being as our host country is supporting every step on our way, regardless of the challenges or difficulties we met," stated Murra.

Apart from political and strategic support, through this Agreement, Albania provides the Fund with the functional conditions for the daily operations.

The agreement was signed in the presence of this Fund's team, the Western Balkans' Ambassadors and the Visegrad Group countries.
