VIENTIANE, April 18 (Xinhua) -- Representatives from the Lao Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, and relevant sectors gathered to review a draft law on agriculture, which aims to improve agricultural efficiency while ensuring the sustainable use, protection, and development of agricultural land.
The meeting, to run from Thursday to Saturday in Vientiane province, was co-chaired by Lao Deputy Minister of Justice Kongchi Yangchue, and Lao Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Kikeo Singnavong, said a report from the Lao Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry on Friday.
The draft Law on Agriculture serves to establish clear principles, regulations, and measures for the management, monitoring, and inspection of agricultural activities. It aims to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of agricultural practices while ensuring the sustainable use, protection, and development of agricultural land.
The law seeks to promote sustainable agriculture in areas such as food security, nutrition, and the production of goods, while aligning with the country's transition toward a modern, green, and sustainable agricultural industry.
In addition, the law aims to improve the living standards of all ethnic groups in Laos, integrate the agricultural sector with regional and global markets, and contribute to the overall socio-economic development of the nation. ■
