ZAGREB, July 2 (Xinhua) -- During the first six months of this year, Croatia recorded 7.5 million tourist arrivals and 29.3 million overnight stays, a 4 percent increase respectively compared with last year, Croatian Minister of Tourism and Sports Tonci Glavina said on Wednesday.
In June alone, the number of tourist arrivals increased by 9 percent and overnight stays by 12 percent year on year, Glavina said, noting that foreign tourists generated 54 million euros (63.5 million U.S. dollars) more in the first quarter of this year than in the same period last year.
Overall, tourism revenues this year are expected to exceed the record of 15 billion euros last year, Glavina added.
In a post on social media platform X, Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic also expressed satisfaction with the results from the tourism sector, which has been one of the pillars of the Croatian economy. (1 euro = 1.18 U.S. dollar) ■
